Northlight Art School Weekday Courses
Autumn Term 2026
We will be offering a 12 week Autumn Term 2026 starting Monday 14th September and ending Friday 11th December with a half-term week Monday 26th to Friday 30th October.
Our courses roll over term by term and we expect a lot of returning students. However, please contact us via email or phone if you are interested in joining any course as there may well be space and if not we have waiting lists. See also the weekly evening classes page.
We also run a series of Weekend Workshops and Summer Schools, both of which are bookable on this website.
Course fee payments: If you are booked onto a class starting in September you will get an email in early August advising about payment, which should be done using BACS transfer if possible asap.
As a self funding not for profit organisation we try to keep course fees as low as possible whilst still affording the cost of building overheads, materials and reasonable wages.
Art Foundations
Experience Level: Intermediate
with Lauren Law
Mondays 10am -12.30pm from 14th September 12 weeks £245
Structured sessions with plenty of demonstrations on techniques and approaches including painting (acrylic/ink/watercolour) drawing, printing and mixed media. Also some time for self-directed study with full tutor guidance.
Claire will be teaching the first half term and Lauren the second.

Art for the Terrified - Absolute Beginners
Experience Level: Absolute Beginners!

Supportive and structured sessions where you will learn skills that will include painting (acrylic/ink/watercolour), drawing, printing and mixed media. Try out different approaches, experiment with a variety of media and above all, have fun!
The Art of Textiles

Experience a wide range of textiles techniques and approaches - from embroidery to felting to dying and printing.
Textiles for the Terrified
with Emma Wilkinson
Tuesdays 1.00pm-3.30pm from 15th September 12 weeks £245
Come and learn the basics of textile art, including using a sewing machine, felting, dying and hand embroidery.
Painting Towards Abstraction
Experience Level: Suitable for All
with Dominic Vince
Wednesdays 10am-12.30pm from 16th September 12 weeks £245
Come to terms with abstract concepts that are fundamental to all painting in this popular painting workshop. Lots of one-to-one support from Dominic to help you build and develop your painting skills in oil and acrylics.
Ceramics Workshop
Experience Level: All levels welcome from beginners up!

A great chance to work with our celebrated ceramic artist Katch Skinner. Learn all the basics from hand building to casting, slip and glazing…….or build on your knowledge if you have some experience.

Ceramics Workshops

Thursdays 9.30 am - 12.30 pm or 13.30 - 16.30pm from 24th September 12 weeks £250
Working with experienced ceramic artist Katch Skinner, these sessions give you the chance to develop your own ideas with technical support and artistic advice. Hand build, throw or use plaster moulds to produce both sculptural and functional items.
Painting - Approaches to Landscape
Experience Level: All levels welcome

Thursdays 10am - 12.30pm from 17th September 12 weeks £245
A class with an emphasis on landscape painting. Work in oils or acrylics and join a like minded group who are on the same journey - solving the diverse problems that present themselves when dealing with landscape or townscape as a subject
Thursday Painting Workshop
Experience Level: Suitable for all

Thursdays 13.30- 16.00pm from 17th Sepember 12 weeks £245
Romily will be taking on this Painting Workshop from April 2026. She will deliver guided painting sessions working with different paint media and subject matter. Working in a supportive group there will then be time to use these techniques to follow your own interests.
Printmaking
Experience Level: Suitable for all

Fridays 9.30-12.00pm from 18th September 12 weeks £245
This ongoing printmaking class is as suitable for beginners and for those with some experience and will help you to develop your skills and ideas. A range of printmaking techniques are covered through the year.
Printmaking Workshop
Experience Level: Practiced
with Rachel Red
Fridays 13.00 -15.30pm from 18th September 12 weeks £245
This afternoon session for more practiced printmakers who are keen to develop their own projects with technical and critical support from Rachel. The workshop environment means students can work on their own self directed study to further develop their monoprint, linoprint, drypoint etching, screen printing, wood cut skills.
