Northlight Artspace

extra events such as Exhibitions, Artists Talks, ‘Show and Tell’ Evenings and Fairs
Artspace is the name that we have given to our multifunctional ground floor space. As well as a light teaching space the room is often transformed into a bright gallery and Exhibition Space. Our termly programme often includes exhibitions from guest artists. We usually have a preview evening on a Friday followed by the exhibition which is open to all over a weekend.
We also use this space for Artists Talks which are open to all students and the public usually on a Friday evening once a term. Artists may share their own work or give an illustrated talk on the work of a particular person or movement. Open discussion follows, plus an opportunity to socialise with a glass of wine.
‘Show and Tell’ Evenings take place usually once a term, again on a Friday evening - where our resident studio artist and students informally share what they are currently working on over a glass of wine. It’s an informal and safe place to talk about your work and receive feedback. The sessions are open to all - why don’t you come along and see - you don’t need to show your work you can just listen and ask questions.

EBB AND FLOW by Annie Harrison
Artefacts from a river walk.
Between August 2021 and March 2022, Bob Gaunt and Annie Harrison walked from their home in Mytholmroyd to Hull, on the river network. Their journey took them along the Calder, the Aire, the Ouse and finally the mighty Humber.
As they travelled from a familiar landscape into new territory, the river became a trusted companion, restoring the relationship which had been lost in the floods of 2015 and 2019.
On the walk they collected impressions and stories which Annie has used, along with plants from the riverbank, to create art works in textile, ceramic and watercolour that document the physical and temporal journey.
