I believe art can be a valuable medium of expression; communicating and connecting with people and I see my own work as a way of promoting positive and uplifting feelings in a direct, emotive way.

As an abstract painter,  I have  attempted to utilise colour as a dynamic, expressive force in my work,  exploring the symbolic nature of colour, eg blue to suggest the spiritual nature and red to suggest the physical. This has taken the form of large-scale canvases, coloured acrylic transparent layered panels and most recently extending colour into 3d space with mixed media wall-based assemblages. Artists who inspire me include American artist James Turrell who works with light and space and Mexican architect Luis Barragan who used pure colour in interior and exterior settings to provide ‘rooms’ or ‘environments’ for contemplation and celebration of life.
