Thinking 3D…sculpture made easy Weekend course with Sally Barker STILL PLACES AVAILABLE
Sat 23rd/Sun 24th March £120 10.30am - 4.30pm
Work with sculptor Sally Barker and build your confidence making 3D forms on this fun 2 day course. Try construction and modelling with wire armature and mod-roc. Use different casting methods using clay, plaster, sand and alginate to make beautiful small and medium pieces.
Bring all your skills together into a final piece to take home

EXPLORING ENCAUSTIC with Jayne Barker Sat 18th May 10.30am - 4.30pm £75
Using coloured waxes and irons to create abstract textures, we will investigate different mark-making
techniques and processes to create experimental pieces and 2 small abstract paintings. Numbers limited to 6 for this workshop
SHIBORE DYEING WORKSHOP with Emma Wilkinson Sat 25th May 10.30am - 4.30pm £60
A full day to work with textile artist Emma Wilkinson. Learn and explore this wonderful Japanese resist dying technique. Experiment and produce exciting samples
LIFE CASTING with Rebecca Truman Sun 26th May 10.30am - 4.30pm £60
Life casting is a beautiful craft which captures the personality of the individual.
Cast hands, faces, ears or feet depending on a willing model, who can either be other workshop members or models brought along who participants wish to cast. Choose whether to do hands individually, holding hands with a friend or we can put family groups together. Finished pieces will be ready to take home
SCULPTURAL POD WEAVING WORKSHOP with Joe Gregory Sat 8th June 10.30am - 4.30pm £75
Weave a Structural, Spherical Pod with the finest grown English willow, (which just happens to be grown right here in the Calder Valley) with Willow Artist Joe Gregory
from Creative with Nature. Learn basic weaving techniques to create a unique structural piece ideal for the garden or home, these cast beautiful shadows with lights in them too.
BOOKBINDING - MAKE A ‘HALF-BOUND BOOK’ with Helen Hayman Sun 9th June 10.30am - 4.30pm £60
A workshop for all those who would like to make their own notebook/sketchbook.
Starting from scratch we will be making a ‘half bound’ book - this has the boards covered with decorative paper and a spine and fore-edge cover with book cloth. Traditional bookbinding techniques will be
used but no specialist equipment is required. Suitable for all abilities
WATERCOLOUR: FLOWERS INTO ABSTRACT with Jayn Barker Sat 15th June £60
Jayn will introduce the work of Georgia O’Keefe and the day will take inspiration from her style of flower painting. Working from fresh flowers, we will experiment with a variety of techniques and processes to create a series of small pieces and a large semi-abstract painting.

Our day and weekend workshops offer a more intensive learning experience and the chance to work with practicing artists who are passionate about sharing their knowledge.
Basic materials are included in the price – higher priced courses reflect higher materials costs, technical input, model fees and ceramics firings. There may be occasional small additional specialist materials charges. We normally need a minimum of 8 people for a course to run and courses may be cancelled if this is not achieved
