Northlight Art Studios Ltd provide good quality space, facilities and resources in an inclusive and supportive environment for artists and makers in the Upper Calder Valley.
 We help create opportunities for members working collectively and individually and engage closely with the local community through open studio events, creative projects and education courses. We are a vibrant co-operative organisation run by our members, with a thriving education programme, 24 hour access, parking, garden,
IT facilities & WiFi. Our waiting list is open and we are inviting new applications. Centrally located, high quality, well-managed, warm and secure studio spaces for artists, designers and makers.  Rental price depends on size (£60 -170 pm), inclusive of all bills. A growing creative community finding inspiration through courses and workshops at the Back Door

 
A new term of regular courses, day and weekend workshops starts on         5th January 2012
Art for the Terrified ~ Life drawing and painting ~ ceramics ~ 
A beginners introduction to the World of Art ~ Oil Painting ~ Bookbinding ~ Printmaking Digital photography ~ Experimental 2D

New! Life drawing class Tuesday afternoons 1.30pm - 3.30pm

 

In our  flexible ground floor area, we have developed an education strand to our activity giving the larger community the chance to benefit from the considerable skills of our 26 artists.
The 'Back Door' project has been a great success and in our second year we have added additional improvers classes, specialised day workshops and weekend courses.

The Back Door gallery  showcases both the work  of Northlight artists and artists living in the creative  hot spot of the Upper Calder Valley.

Making Books with Kath Bolton 
Sat 25th Feb 10am – 4pm  
A day for newcomers to begin to explore the world of bookbinding. Make an easy book with pockets for personalised decorated tags
 
Life Draw and Print! with James Fearon
Sat 17th March 10am – 4pm  
A unique day to work from the model  using drawing and monoprint techniques
 
Phizz up your Photos! with Tony O’Connell
Sun18th March  10am – 4pm
Giving you the tools to analyse your imagery and improve your composition. Suitable for all digital camera users
 
Day workshops cost £40 (£35 concessions)
 
Experimental 2D weekend
24th & 25th March 10am – 4pm   £125 including lunches
A full weekend to explore more experimental 2D territory – working with collage and mixed media, drawing, painting and printmaking with both figurative and abstract outcomes - Led by painters Mary Loney and Perri Webster
